The restoration & adpation of an existing Victorian villa into architectural studio offices, responds to the siting and contextual scale with the detailing of the existing building. This is addressed through the geometry of the overall design composition, juxtaposing & interfacing the asymetry of the existing building with the modern symetrical new glass and steel structure. The holistic composition balances new and old into an overall relationship, which builds on the spirit of the past into an appropriate architecture of today.

The renovation & conversion of the 1905 “Manor House”, built by Sir Liege Hullet, for use as corporate offices was necessary to preserve this historic building from demolition. The restoration was based on stripping away various layers of additions carried out over the years, together with introducing glazed screens into the structure, ensuring the essence of the original structure was revealed. The introduction of new elements were judiciously introduced to ensure the changed usage of the building was commensurate to its new status, without detracting from the grandeur of the original design.
