The Government of Bahrain commissioned an international convention Centre in 2001 in order to hold the Arab League Summit of 2003. The design totaled an area of 21,650sq.m, including basement, ground and first floor levels. Flexible meeting spaces are located on the ground floor including a fixed raked floor auditorium each accommodating 1500 delegates. Entrance foyers, registration spaces, breakaway venues,“majlis” rooms and servery kitchens complete the public accommodation Service spaces are accommodated in the basement and roof spaces.

The design philosophy maximizes the functional qualities of a modern, technological and flexible Convention Centre, within the parameters of a defined and unique language located in the geographically context of the Islamic world.
