The Westway Office Park sites are extremely steep. The application of the office development for a group of professional engineering practice needed to be accommodated on a single level, with the option of lettable floor area been made available on a separate floor level. The resulting configuration was to provide direct access at street level to the top floor via a short ramp and a longer ramp down to the lower floor level. This together with the centralisation of all other vertical accesses between floors provided the need for a roof structure over two identical wings on either side of a flat concrete roof over the central circulation area. The curved roofs with exposed tubular steel trusses, with integrated ducted air conditioning and expressed lighting systems, provide a sense of lightness to the interior space as well as creating a light floating roof supported on cantilevered steel brackets of the concrete up stand beams.
