A polyethylene bag manufacturer relocated to an existing factory building in Jacobs. Due to the requirements of manufacturing process the roof of the existing premises had to be raised substantially. This provided an opportunity to introduce natural south lighting and natural ventilation. Beside the altering the structure of the building a steel gantry was required as part of the manufacturing process for access by workers to the machinery and the application of the raw material. This provided an opportunity to celebrate the practical and utilitarian structure with the application of colour. The enlivening quality of colour improved the quality of the work environment. The project received the 1985 “Dulux Colour Award.
