The design for a retired couple, required simplicity of design in terms of both planning and detail. The site is within a golf course estate, with the main aspect being mature trees as the primary view. Within the constraints of the small site the design addresses the main living areas to the North West, which is directly related to the mature vegetation. The North East aspect is impacted upon by an adjacent golf cart path, requiring screening of the window opening to this elevation. The elements of detailing the openings within the thick wall provides for the opportunity to utilize the wall cavity into which the window sections slide. The use of sliding shutters provides the choice of control of the openings for view, privacy and natural ventilation.
